Our DSP for this week is Bamidele, or Bami for short. She has been with Living Well for just over five years and is an integral part of the Living Well family. Bami started at Inndale and is now at Elgin. She is a busy working mom of four who considers caring for others a joy.
Caroline Adesanya, Program Manager, says, “I have a lot to say about Bami, but I’ll keep it to a few things. First, she is so passionate about our individuals and everyone around here—family, friends, and coworkers. She truly loves her job, and she’s always on time because she cares so much. Being passionate is the most important thing, and everything else falls into place. She is calm and a lovable person, always ready to do anything to help people, offering a helping hand to staff whenever needed. Most importantly, she builds strong teamwork here. She makes sure everything is in place and checks that everyone is doing well.” Caroline loves that working with her is so calm, and the environment she creates is very conducive to getting work done.
The crew at Inndale agree. Mary Larson, Program Manager, says, “Bami always comes with a positive attitude and kind smile! She has built meaningful relationships and cares deeply for the people.” Sam adds, “She makes us all happy and is very caring!” Don reports, “I appreciate her BIG heart!” And John says, “She is hard working and always fun to be around!”

ABOUT BAMI
Number of years/months with Living Well: 5 years 2 months
Hobbies/Interests: Outside of work I am a full-time mother. My kids keep me busy and I help them with whatever they need, do assignments with them, and generally like to have fun with them. We are always busy!
Education: I have a High School diploma from back home.
Job Experience/History: Back home I was busy taking care of my kids and my grandparents. Here in the US started in the care field right away as soon as I arrived in Minnesota. I started at our Inndale home and was there for four years before moving to Elgin.
Favorite part of the job: Every part is my favorite part. Helping them because they cannot help themselves. Having conversations and asking and answering questions. Taking care of people. All of it. We get to know a lot about each other in this role.
Favorite work story: When I was at Inndale somebody would always ask, “Bami do I have you, are you taking me somewhere today or tomorrow?” In the past I worked with an older person in senior living, and she rejected me at first. After a short time, she always wanted to be with me and considered me as her favorite. It feels good to build relationships at work and it makes me happy that I am doing the right thing by helping others.
What is your motivation for coming to work: I like knowing I am going to help people who need me.
Whenever I am coming to work, I leave my business and my issues at the door and don’t take them in with me, I can deal with my own stuff at home.
What made you apply: My sister started working at Living Well back when we first moved here. When she found out they have another house in the community she recommended I apply. My current manager, Caroline, also encouraged me to come work here, she has been a great help.
What makes you stay: I just love Living Well, it is so peaceful, and they have good people here. They have good leaders and good staff. Issues happen but they are solved professionally most of the time.
What would you tell people interested in joining the team: You are not going to regret working with Living Well, these are good people who care about their staff and the people who live here.
When not at work what do you like to do for fun: I cook for my kids. They love rice and sauce with chicken or beef. I love to cook and make a little bit of everything.
Do volunteer: At my kids school when I have time.
