Our DSP this week is Carmelita. She initially came to Upper 55th working as a Living Well float. Which means she had worked at several other locations before landing at the house. She is very charismatic and demonstrates her love for the individuals at the home. And, luckily for us—back in October she accepted the Assistant Manager Position.

Adolphus Kesseh, Program Manager, says, “My initial assessment during her orientation at the home was that she is a person willing to learn and open to corrections. Carmelita wanted to learn her job quickly to be able to work on her own. She is very meticulous with her duties and responsibilities.” Adolphus is impressed by the way she supports the people who live at the home as well as other staff, adding, “Carmelita cares about the shift coming after her and goes the extra mile to make sure that transition is as smooth as possible. She also comes to work early to facilitate transition from the shift before hers. I was very excited when she expressed her desire to take the APM position at Upper 55th. There is a lot to learn, and she demonstrates each day her willingness to adapt into her new role. Thank you, Carmelita, you are highly appreciated for your dedication and hard work.”

Mary Jean Loomis, whose daughter Brenda lives at Upper 55th says, “Carmelita is a kind, helpful advocate for our residents, conscientious about her caring for our children.” Brenda has been with Living Well for decades, and Mary Jean is very happy to know wonderful caregivers are there for her daughter.

Carmelita, you bring fun and joy to this workplace. As well as professionalism and compassion. And the willingness to pick up extra shifts to assist with the staffing shortage. All while finding time to create meaningful relationships with people at the home. This level of dedication makes you an incredible asset to the Living Well family.

Congrats, Carmelita, we adore your willingness to dive right in and get to work making a difference in the lives of others. Thank you for making a career out of caring. We appreciate you!
