Our DSP this week is Godhard. He works at our Schletty home and has been with Living Well just over four years now. He is a reliable and steady employee who takes his job seriously but also has fun with the people he supports.
Lyndsey Thomas has been the Interim PM at Schletty for a few months and says, “I’ve had the opportunity to work alongside Godhard while being the interim program manager at two homes. During my time at these homes, Godhard has always provided exceptional care to the people he is supporting. He is hard-working, dedicated, and someone you can depend on. He goes above and beyond to help out the home by picking up additional shifts when help is needed, and he takes the initiative to do other needed tasks. The people he cares for are lucky to have him in their life.

When asked what makes him stay, Godhard says, “I stay because of the strong sense of fulfillment I get from making a difference in others’ lives and the supportive, collaborative environment with the team.” This is the kind of person he is, happy to be of service to others while part of an incredible team. Godhard is incredible, and his empathy and gentle nature makes him an exceptional DSP.
Godhard, we appreciate all you do for Living Well, and are grateful you have made a career out of caring.

Hobbies/Interests: My hobbies include hiking and exploring nature, which helps me recharge and stay active. Job Experience/History: In my role as a Direct Support Professional, I provide companionate care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities, helping them archive greater independence in their daily lives. My work involves closely collaborating with healthcare professionals and families to ensure the best outcomes for those I support. I also developed strong communication skills and learned to manage challenging situations with patience and empathy. My commitment to making a positive in the lives of others.
Favorite part of the job: Building meaningful relations with the individuals I support and seeing their progress over time. It is incredibly rewarding to witness their achievements, no matter how small, and know that I have played a part in their journey. I also love it when we all work together to make a positive impact. Every day brings new challenges and opportunities to learn, which keeps the work engaging and fulfilling. And when doing direct care, driving them out for appointments and passing medications.
Favorite or craziest work story: Helping a clint fulfill their lifelong dreams of taking them to a Fair and putting them in a hot air balloon which was spinning round and round. Despite initial nerves, they were filled with excitement, there was happiness on their face as they realized their dream. This was a powerful reminder of the impact I have on those I support.

Working alongside dedicated coworkers who share this passion energizes me, and together, we create a suppositive environment that truly makes a difference. My desire to serve others and contribute to their well-being’s not just a job; it is a calling that I’ve seen reflected in my family’s dedication to helping others over the years. This sense of purpose drives me to give my best every day.
What made you apply: I love working with people with disabilities because my late Mum was disabled and I worked with her for over 20 years, and also because I am passionate about making a meaningful impact in the people lives and I see it as a perfect opportunity to use my skills to do so.
