Our DSP this week is Julius. He has been with us for five years and works at our Larpenteur home. He is a dedicated and reliable employee, and we are grateful for his incredible work.

Julius found out about Living Well when one of his wife’s friends who works here told him about the job. He applied and soon realized he enjoyed the work, so stayed on for the past five years. He thinks the job is meaningful, and he knows what he does is important to the people who call Larpenteur home.

Deb Kreinitz, Program Manager, says, “Julius is a truly Dedicated DSP. He comes to work every day and picks up extra hours all the time.” She thinks it is clear that the people that live at Larpenteur love spending time with him by the way they interact with him, and adds, “Julius went to the hospital to sit with one of Larpenteur’s residents just to make them more comfortable! Thank you, Julius, for doing an amazing job!”

Julius, we sincerely apprecaite the work you do at Living Well, and the care you bring to the home. Comfort and cleanliness are imperative, and we thank you for making both priorities in your day.

ABOUT JULIUS

Number of years/months with Living Well: 5 years

Hobbies/Interests: Outside of work I like to hang out with my wife and spend time together.

Education/Job Experience: I went to High School back in Liberia and was a businessman before moving here.

Favorite part of the job: Well, I like to care for people. And sometimes I just enjoy playing with them. I make sure the house is tidy, that the people who live here have what they need, and that the laundry is always clean. The rooms are kept as clean as at my own home because I like keeping things presentable.

What is your motivation for coming to work: My wife encourages me. And the work is important, we need to do what we do to keep the clients safe and healthy. And it is important to work hard to sustain my kids back home as well.

What made you apply: I was encouraged by Eva who works at Living Well. She is my wife’s friend, and she referred me.

What makes you stay: I think work is work anywhere you go. But where you find you are at peace is a good place to be. When they love you and show you love at work, it makes you feel like you are among your own family. We are family here. The work feels safe for me because this feels like home. It is also close and not too far from my actual house, so I don’t have to travel far in the cold weather. Convenience and comfort make me stay.

What would you tell people interested in joining the team: I would say the work is fulfilling and safe, and that we need good people, so come and join us. The people we work with need others to help and direct them, and we need to treat them well and give comfort. In Africa we believe that we should treat people well, that when God looks at your work and behavior, God blesses you because of the people and care you give others.

Do you volunteer in your community or school: I volunteer with my church a little bit.
