Our DSP for this week is Olu. He has been with Living Well since 2019 and has a heart of gold. Everyone at the house loves and appreciates him, and he is crucial part of an incredible team.
Program Manager, Alex Buslee, says, “Since Olu started at Poppler, he has been the rock of the evening shifts. He is very quiet, but once you get him engaged in a conversation, you realize just how intelligent and thoughtful he is. He makes himself aware of what’s going on around the world, and his point of view is unique and insightful. He is a kind man, clearly making sure to provide for everyone he loves. It would be hard to work so much to take care of others, and he never hesitates or complains. We are lucky to have him.”

ABOUT OLU
Number of years/months with Living Well: 6 years 7 months
Hobbies/Interests: I enjoy football and travelling. My favorite team is Barcelona, and I am a lifelong fan. And my son is on the high school football team, so I enjoy watching him play. As for travel, a few favorite destinations were Denver here in the US, and Dubai, and South African countries, abroad.
Education: I have a High School diploma.
Job Experience/History: When I was young, I took care of my grandma and have worked in care a lot since then. Before coming to Living Well I worked at US Bank Stadium in the kitchen.
Favorite part of the job: When I chat with Rodney, it makes me happy and we both laugh a lot. I also take folks out and we have fun together.
Favorite or craziest work story: Alex tells us that Olu and Isaac have the funniest exchanges over politics and life, often heated discussions around whatever is in the news. Rodney listens intently and then reports their entire conversation, usually siding with Olu. They know more about their home countries and are interested in politics, and we all enjoy the way they interact respectfully. Rodney always gets involved, and it’s a favorite for all of us to be a part of it.
What is your motivation for coming to work: I am motivated to help care for people with a person-centered approach to caregiving.
What made you apply: I enjoy taking care of people.
What makes you stay: The people we support are kind and lovely.
What would you tell people interested in joining the team: I would tell people the place is clean, there are lovely people to work with, and the people we support are kind.
When not at work what do you like to do for fun: When I am home, I go to kids activities, and really enjoy watching my son play football.
