We partner with Hometown Sweets for treats for Direct Support Professionals every other month, and their partner business, Hometown Meats helped bring a tailgate to the office. They grilled up 200 hamburgers and 120 Nathan’s Hot dogs, with an additional dozen veggie burgers. We had chips and beverages as well. And since treats make everything more fun, Jilly Beans Ice cream truck made an appearance and everyone was invited to pick a treat, or two. By the end of the day close to 250 icy treats were enjoyed. And to make it even more fun there were yard games, and a raffle!

Staff who came were invited to enter the raffle. To make it extra fun, in an unexpected twist, two winners were those with the longest tenure on staff at Living Well, who have been with the company a whopping 45 years, and one of our newest employees who came out to enjoy lunch during break from orientation.

As you know, at the beginning of the year we started a DSP of the Week blog to highlight our incredible staff. With hundreds of staff, we have lots of amazing employees to celebrate. Parties like the one on Tuesday are for them, as another way to show the people who make a career out of caring that they are valued and that their consistent dedication to helping others is what makes our mission of providing exceptional services for people with disabilities possible. Burgers and treats are just a fun reason to gather together and celebrate the work, the people we support and the people who care for them tirelessly are the reason for the party, and the reason we celebrated five decades of service last year.
